Commentary | Copy from Savery's composition for this episode (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657; Brussels: Mommarte, 1662; Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673). In the foreground, don Quixote and Sancho ridind ClavileƱo; two servants simulate its flight with a bellow and fire; another servant is lighting a fuse. In the background, under a rich tent, the Duke and the Duchess observe the scene.
The engraving is good. The light/shadows effects (fire and night) must be highlighted. |
Notes | Previous to this illustration, another one is missing: "Merlin gives Notice how Dulcinea is to be Difenchanted" (f.p. 205). |
