Copy from the basic composition for this episode created by Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657; Brussels: Mommarte, 1662; Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673). Don Quixote is surprised by a flock of birds when he tries to descend into Montesinos' cave. Sancho Panza and Basilio's cousin hold the rope with which don Quixote is tied. The lack of expressions make this illustration not much convincing. |
Previous to this illustration, there should be another one: "Sancho flies from the Scullions who would Lather his Beard" (f.p. 102). |
