Commentary | Copy from Bouttats' composition (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673). Two different scenes in the same plate. In the background, the first one: During the night, Sancho and the Knight of the Mirrors' squire have dinner, while their masters talk. In the foreground, the second scene: In the morning, don Quixote defeats the Knight of the Mirrors (Sansón Carrasco) and his squire (Tomé Cecial) tries to stop him. Sancho observes astonished Sansón Carrasco's face. Tomé Cecial should appear with a false big nose. |
