Commentary | Composition based on that by Bouttats (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673). Two different scenes in the same illustration. In the foreground, don Quixote defeats one of the slave's guards, while Sancho releases the slaves. In the background, the consequence: don Quixote and Sancho Panza are stoned by the slaves.
Shading burin lines are interesting in some parts (rocks). |
