Commentary | The characters has been distributed following a diagonal from the lower left corner, where don Quixote's head appears (center of attention); Sancho tries to stop the goatherd while the priest, the canon and the officers of the Holy Brotherhood just observe them; also the goat.
Don Quixote, the goatherd and Sancho's expressions are quite forced, and humorously grotesque. |
Notes | Cushing Library also has a set including this illustration with some differences in color. |
