Commentary Don Quixote gets angry with Sancho because the squire does not believe Micomicona (Dorotea) to be a real princess; this image of don Quixote is, more than ever, the one of a mad man (see his exaggerated gesture). Also Dorotea and don Fernando (both as figures from the Commedia dell'Arte), Sancho (as a buffoon), the innkeeper, the priest, doña Clara and Luscinda.
Clark does not show too much interest in the setting.
Cheerfully hand-colored (roses, greens, blues, yellows..).
Notes Placed as a frontispiece.
Cushing Library also has a set including this illustration with some differences in color.

"El lápiz litográfico de Clarck, con sorna populachera y caricaturesca, se deleita en ridiculizar a los héroes cervantinos" (GG 195). Givanel makes a mistake in the technique, but his interpretation of Clark's style is quite good.
