Commentary | Don Quixote attacks and destroys Maese Pedro's theater and puppets.
The basic composition for the illustration of this episode was created by Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657). Now the illustration is more detailed (see tapestry with Venus and Cupid in the theater, Maese Pedro's monkey on a beam...) and has more movement. Sancho Panza appears as a deformed dwarf. Drawing and engraving are acceptable, but poor. |
Notes | 1 - It includes the indication "Page 417", but the textual reference appears in Part II, Book II, Chapter XXVI, p. 415. |
