Commentary | Don Antonio Moreno shows the enchanted head to don Quixote and Sancho; don Antonio's wife and friends also appear.
The head as a Roman bust, accurate to Cervantes' text. Episode first represented by Bouttats (Amberes: Verdussen, 1672 - 1673), whose composition is copied here in part. |
Notes | 1 - Wrongly-placed as a frontispiece. It should be f.p. 533 (Part II, Book IV).
2 - In same folio with "Don Quixot conquer'd by the Knight of the White Moon". 3 - In Cushing's copy, the first plate of this edition ("Don Quixot Dubb'd a knight Errant by the Innkeeper" and "Don Quixot's Encounter with the Windmills") is wanting. This missing plate should appear f.p. 29 (Part I, Book I). |
