| Commentary | Well-known scene; in the foreground, Sancho whipping himself while, in the middle ground, don Quixote counts the lashes with his rosary; in the left background, Rocinante and the donkey.
The shading of Sancho's half-naked and in escorzo body is remarkable, although his arm is lightly disproportionate. |
