Commentary | Illustration of great quality and novelty (not in Madrid: Imprenta Real, 1797); don Quixote and Sancho searching Dulcinea's palace in El Toboso and passing by the church (the represented one is not the real church of El Toboso); "con la iglesia hemos dado" (9:2); behind them, "uno con dos mulas, que por el ruido que hacía el arado que arrastraba por el suelo juzgaran que debía de ser labrador" (9:2). Very accurate to Cervantes' text.
Very carefully-done dawn light; "que ya viene el alba" (9:2). Excellent print because of the quality of its drawing, engraving and details (see don Quixote's armor, Sancho pointing the way they have to follow, the detailed church...). |
