Commentary | In Barataria Island, governor Sancho has to judge between a man accused of rape and the accusing woman.
In comparison with other illustrations of this edition, this image of Sancho looks different (fatter). The characters in the lower part are more interesting; the secretary, the majordomo, some figures looking with curiosity (left), the accused man (right) and the accusing woman (left; with her back turned on the viewer; with excellent drawing and engraving). |
