Commentary | Appearance of Marcela.
Very well-resolved scene with a vertical composition (accurate to Cervantes' text, Marcela has to appear over some rocks); the scene, with an almost shining Marcela and the shepherds knelt down, reminds the traditional representation of The Announcement to the Shepherds. The figures of the shepherds (see their gestures and faces) are quite remarkable. |
