Commentary | Sansón Carrasco proposes himself to be don Quixote's squire and don Quixote tells Sancho: "No te dije yo, Sancho, que no me habían de sobrar escuderos? (7:2), which causes Sancho's sadness.
Sancho's sad face is well-detailed; tender image. Notice how the dialogue has been developed through gestures and looks. Drawing and engraving are remarkable despite some light faults; notice the use of dotted manner/stipple. |
Notes | 1 - Copy after John Vanderbank's illustration for London: Tonson, 1738.
2 - Wrongly-placed in chapter 10:1; this scene belongs to 7:2. |
