Commentary | Don Quixote half-naked, holding his lance and melancholic during his love penance in Sierra Morena; his arms on the left.
From the left, Sancho observes him hidden. In the background, a windmill half-transformed into a giant (reminds Coypel's design for Paris: Surugue, 1723-24). Deficient printing/preservation. Interesting romantic image of don Quixote. Good combination of techniques; the quality of the whole image is quite acceptable. |
