Commentary | Sancho is hit by a member of the braying mayors squadron, falling behind his donkey; don Quixote arrives to help him, but, after seeing an arquebus, he will flee away.
Well-drawn and engraved figures (see man in the foreground), but with some problems of perspective (the same man holds Rocinante's reins, but the horse is much further). Accurate standard (donkey and inscription: "NO REBUZNARON EN BALDE EL UNO Y EL OTRO ALCALDE"). |
Notes | 1 - At first, this scene was chosen to be represented in Madrid: Ibarra, 1780 too, and it was even designed by Goya, engraved and printed, but the Spanish Royal Academy did not include it in its 1780 edition finally. |
