Commentary | The same plate includes a headpiece and a initial; both elements are joined by vegetal ornaments.
The headpiece includes the representation of two medals with don Quixote and Sancho's portraits, the heads of Rociante and Sancho's donkey and different elements from the novel (arms, helmet, lance, basin, wineskin, chivalry novels, sword...). All surrounded by grotesques. The initial "E" includes an image of don Quixote's library with chivalry books and arms. The result is highly decorative. |
