Commentary | Don Quixote, sat on his bed, has decided to start his third sally without Sancho, causing Sancho's sadness (see his face).
The housekeeper, frightened by don Quixote's intentions, has made Sansón Carrasco come to convince don Quixote to stay at home, but, by the contrary, Sansón Carrasco will encourage him to go out. Drawing and engraving are good; the composition is theatrical and simple, but not too much realistic. |
Notes | 1 - Same plate first engraved for Paris: Didot L'Aîné-Deterville, 1799, now without frames. Also without frames in Paris: H. Nicolle, 1808.
2 - Wrongly placed in chapter 8:2. |
