Commentary | In the Duke's palace, don Quixote and Sancho mounted on Clavileño, both blindfolded and don Quixote turning the peg on Clavileño's forehead to make the wooden horse "fly".
On the right, a servant ready to simulate its flight with a pair of bellows. In the background, the Duke, Duchess and dueñas observing the scene. Well-known scene, but good illustration. |
Notes | 1 - Same illustration first published in Stuttgart: K. Thienemanns, c. 1896.
2 - Poor process reproduction. |
