Commentary | The goatherd Eugenio attacks don Quixote while Sancho tries to stop him; the priest, the canon, the barber and some officers of justice observe them; also the goat that Eugenio was searching. |
Notes | 1 - Stothard likes remarked expressions (see don Quixote and Sancho's scared faces) and varied gestures; see also "Sancho tossed in the Blanket" (vol. I, f.p. 176).
2- (Maybe) Thomas Milton (c. 1743 – Bristol, 1827): Engraver and landscape painter. Thomas Milton, William Woollett’s disciple (1735 – 1785), worked in London and Dublin, where he prepared 24 plates for “Views of Seats of Ireland”. He was the president of the Association of Engravers and engraved several plates for an edition of “Shakespeare” (Benezit VII, 426). |
