Commentary | Zoraida pretends to faint when her father, Agi Morato, discovers her with the captive, Ruy Pérez de Viedma.
Zoraida and captive's figures are quite remarkable. Similar representation in previous English editions. Good drawing and detailed engraving. In an ornamental and architectural frame with Cupid and his arms (quiver, arrows, bow, wings, torch...); the whole illustration has got a remarkable decorative effect. |
Notes | 1 - It includes indication "Vide Vol. II. Chap. 14. Page 172".
2 - Dated in Novr. (?), 1800. 3 – In other copies, with different caption, for vol. III, p. 8 (1796) (Ashbee). |
