Commentary | Despite the caption, the scene represented is a previous instant.
When Maese Pedro meets don Quixote, he kneels down and embraces his legs; Sancho and others observe them; also Maese Pedro's ape. Good drawing and engraving. Notice that don Quixote (with feather on his basin) and Sancho's models are Coypel's. In an ornamental and architectural frame with Maese Pedro's head and a snake; the whole illustration has got a remarkable decorative effect. |
