Commentary | First time represented episode; very original choice.
Beginning of captive's story (Ruy Pérez de Viedma); captive's father informs his three sons that they must begin their owns careers; accurate to Cervantes' text; "llamándonos un día a todos tres a solas en su aposento, nos dijo unas razones semejantes a la que ahora diré" (39:1). Theatrical composition: on the left, the three brothers from the oldest to the youngest (the two oldest, Ruy and Juan Pérez de Viedma, talk between themselves; the youngest talks to his father); on the right, the father sat under a curtain (theatrical). Theatrical gestures and faces too. Excellent engraving despite the small format of the headpiece. |
Notes | It includes reference "P. 34". |
