Commentary | DuchessĀ“ maidens soap don Quixote's beard and the knight remains in this way waiting for another maiden who has to bring more water.
On the right, one maiden laughs because of the deceit. The Duke and the Duchess observe the scene. Good mannerist architecture. Drawing and engraving are acceptable and detailed, but with some faults. |
Notes | 1 - Plate XV.
2 - Surrounded by a strong line enclosing underneath a space for inscription, which however has been left blank. 3 - Copy after Cochin's illustration (La Haye: Hondt, 1746). 4 - Probably, the copy has been done after the plate for Paris/La Haye: Chez Bleuet, 1774, which has a similar frame and underneath space but with caption. 5 - The plate is not signed. |
