Frontispiece of excellent quality because of drawing and engraving (see allegorical figures of Spain and Fame) and original invention. One of the best allegorical frontispieces of 18th century. |
Notes | 1 - The rabbit is a symbol of Spain becuse it was believed that the Phoenician word for the Iberian Peninsule, "Sphan" ("Northern Land"), meant "land of rabbits". In the time of Emperor Adriano, it appeared the first representation of Hispania with a rabbit in some coins. |
