Commentary Excellent image of Teresa Panza, as a genre scene.
Notes 1 - Teresa has been represented mending the packsaddle, but this textual reference does not appear in Cervantes' original text, where it is said: "requerid la albarda y las demás jarcias" (5:2) (require the packsaddle and the other harness). However, Viardot (1836) translated it as "recousez bien le bât et les autres harnais" (resew well the packsaddle and the other harness).
2 - Reprint of Johannot's illustration for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37.
