Commentary At night, during dinner, don Quixote begins his speech about arms and letters.
Cervantes gives a very detailed description of the distribution of characters around the table (don Quixote, Micomicona, Luscinda, Zoraida, Cardenio, don Fernando, the captive, the barber and the priest), but Johannot does not follow it in a very accurate way (only placing don Quixote at the head of the table with Dorotea by his side).
Notes 1 - Reprint of Johannot's illustration for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37.
