Commentary | After being stoned by the shepherds, don Quixote asks Sancho to count his teeth.
The realism of the illustration reinforces the humor of the text, but Johannot has not chosen the moment of cruder humor (don Quixote and Sancho vomiting). Drawing and engraving are quite remarkable; the figures are highly detailed, both as real portraits. |
