Commentary Several elements alluding to don Quixote and his adventures: shield, gauntlet, basin (Manbrino's helmet), sword, lance, saddle, books...; also a jester scepter and and owl.
The jester scepter may allude to the Comedy genre used by Cervantes, but also remembers the bojiganga.
The owl is used as a symbol of Chivalry novels.
Good headpiece.
Notes 1 - Reprint of Johannot's illustration for Paris: Dubochet, 1836-37.
