Commentary | Don Quixote tries to punish Andrés, but he runs away; "Íbase a levantar don Quijote para castigarle, mas él se puso a correr de modo que ninguno se atrevió a seguirle" (31:2).
In the background, as a bucolic scene, the group of the priest, the barber (disguised), Micomicona (Dorotea), Cardenio and Sancho. Quite acceptable engraving. |
Notes | 1 - First copied for Madrid: Vega, 1804 after Antonio Rodríguez' illustration for Madrid: Imprenta Real, 1797.
2 - Before this illustration, there was other plate in 1797 edition: "Castigo de Sancho por haber preferido otra hermosura á la de Dulcinea"; it has not been included in 1804 and 1840 editions. |
