Commentary | Three different scenes (archaic):
In the background: don Quixote attacking the windmills and Sancho trying to stop him. In the middle ground, Sancho is beaten by the Benedictine friars' servants; the monks run away. In the foreground, don Quixote fighting against the Basque; Sancho observes them; also the carriage with Basque ladies. Drawing and engraving are simple and rough. |
