Commentary | In the foreground, don Quixote, Sancho, his donkey and Rocinante trying to stand up after having been trampled by pigs; "levantose Sancho como mejor pudo, y pidió a su amo la espada, diciéndole, que quería matar media docena de aquellos señores, y descomedidos puercos" (68:2).
In the background, the herd of pigs led by swineherds. Very poor drawing and rough engraving; deficient inking/printing; worn block. |
Notes | 1 – Same wooden block first used for Madrid: Manuel Martín, 1765 (copied after Madrid: Juan de San Martín, 1741).
2 – Copied after Diego de Obregón’s illustration for Madrid: A. García de la Iglesia, 1674 (as copied for Madrid: Antonio Sanz, 1735). |
