Commentary | During the scrutiny of the library (left background), don Quixote wakes up shouting; "levantado de la cama, y proseguía con sus voces, y en sus desatinos, dando cuchilladas, y reveses a todas partes" (7:1).
The housekeeper continues burning don Quixote's books, throwing them to the courtyard, while the niece, the barber and the priest go to see don Quixote. Both scenes have been separated by a column; good composition. The quality of drawing and engraving is not the same in all the figures; the figures of the niece (drawn and engraved with detail) and the housekeeper (sketched in the background) are quite remarkable. Don Quixote's figure is quite ridiculous. |
