| Commentary | In Sierra Morena, princess Micomicona (Dorotea) kneels before don Quixote begging for his help; the barber disguised as her squire with a fake beard (ox-tail).
Well-known scene and composition since Coypel (Paris: Surugue, 1724); illustration with little novelty in content, but with excellent drawing and engraving; they are masterly. Dorotea's beauty and detailed face are very remarkable. Also Sancho (with suspicious looking), the priest and Cardenio (both hidden). |
