Commentary | Isolated representation of the innkeeper who knighted don Quixote holding a book and a sword; very remarkable figure.
Good drawing and engraving. Vanderbank included this figure in his representation of the whole scene for London: Tonson, 1738; maybe, Vanderbank used an original sketch by Hogarth or it was Hogarth who made his design after Vanderbank's illustration. |
