Commentary Rocinante begins to move closer to one of the travelers' mares (four in the text, only two in the illustration), leaving don Quixote almost hold by his hand, but he has not fallen yet.
The innkeeper, his daughter and Maritornes should not appear yet, but Coypel prefers theatrical compositions plenty of figures.
Drawing and engraving of different quality; acceptable, but with incorrections.
Notes 1 - Copy of Coypel's illustration (Paris: Surugue, c. 1728-30) through Jacob van der Schley's copy (La Haye: Hondt, 1746). Both 1746 and 1777 copies with the same vertical format. Both c. 1728 and 1777 illustrations with the same composition; in 1746 it is turned.
2 - In Cushing's copy, tomes I and II are bound together.
