Commentary | In the foreground, don Quixote has defeated the Knight of the Mirrors (Sansón Carrasco) and his squire (Tomé Cecial) comes from the background to help him; Sancho observes astonished Sansón Carrasco's face.
Tomé Cecial should appear with a fake big nose. Drawing and engraving are very simple and poor. |
Notes | 1 - Same plate first engraved for Lyon: Thomas Amaulry, 1711.
2 – Inverted and partial copy after Bouttats' illustration for Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73; the scene in the background (during the night, Sancho and the Knight of the Mirrors' squire have dinner) has not been copied. 3 - Unsigned. |
