Commentary | Two different scenes in the same plate (archaic):
The first one, in the background: don Quixote is defeated by the Toledo silk merchants' groom. The second scene, in the foreground: don Quixote is taken back home on Pedro Alonso's mule; Rocinante follows them with don Quixote's arms. Drawing and engraving are acceptable, but simple and poor; deficient printing and preservation. |
