| Commentary | In the foreground, don Quixote brandishing his sword ready to fight against a lion, but the animal remains into its cage although the lionkeeper has opened it.
In the background, Sancho and don Diego de Miranda running away. Well-known composition, with little novelty. Cruikshank's personal caricature style is remarkable; notice don Quixote's figure and the lionkeeper's expression. |
