| Commentary | Don Quixote defeating the Knight of the Mirrors (Sansón Carasco).
In the background, Sancho and the Knight of the Mirrors' squire (Tomé Cecial)?. Simple drawing and clumsy engraving. |
| Notes | 1 – This illustration was engraved to represent "Don Quixote defeated by the Knight of the White Moon" (64:2), so the characters in the background are Sancho, don Antonio and the viceroy, but it has been used fot this episode too (14:2).
2 - Same wooden block first cut for Barcelona: Juan Jolis, 1755, copied after Madrid: Antonio Sanz, 1735, badly copied after Diego de Obregón’s illustration (Madrid: Andrés García de la Iglesia, 1674). 3 - Obregón did not illustrate episode 14:2. 4 - It has not been copied the illustration for chapter 14:2 that appeared in Madrid: Antonio Sanz, 1735. 5 - Wrongly-placed in chapter 12:2. |
