Commentary | Well-known scene since Savery (Dordrecht: Savery, 1657), but now it is less comical (Sancho does not appears between two shields).
Sancho receives one sword and one shield from several soldiers to defend Barataria Island. Simple composition without too much drama or movement. Well-drawn and engraved figures. |
Notes | 1 - Same plate from London: Tonson, 1738 Spanish edition and London: Tonson, 1742 English edition. |
