Commentary | Pyramidal and theatrical composition; governor Sancho in its vertice, well-visible.
Sancho declares the accused man (left) innocent and orders the accusing woman (right) to leave the Island: "Hermana mía, si el mismo aliento, y valor que habéis mostrado para defender esta bolsa, le mostrases, y aun la mitad menos, para defender vuestro cuerpo, las fuerzas de Hércules no os hicieran fuerza" (45:2). At the bottom, several notaries. In the background, an inscription appears inverted because of a mistake by the engraver. Drawing and engraving are highly-remarkable in the figures of Sancho, the notaries and the accused man. |
