| Commentary | Accurate to Cervantes' text: Sansón Carrasco "viendo á Don Quixote, poniéndose de rodillas, y diciéndole: Deme vuestra grandeza las manos, Señor Don Quixote de la Mancha; que por el hábito de San Pedro que visto, aunque no tengo otras órdenes que las cuatro primeras, que es vuestra merced uno de los más famosos Caballeros andantes" (3:2).
Don Quixote's figure with dignity, but comical too. Sansón Carrasco's face shows his own personality. Sancho observes them amused. Drawing and engraving are masterly. |
