Commentary | Well-accurate composition to Cervantes' text, but not the setting.
Don Quixote and Sancho observe one of the dances in Camacho's wedding; "También le pareció bien otra que entró de doncellas hermosísimas [...]. Guiábalas un venerable viejo y una anciana matrona [...]. Hacíales el són una gaita zamorana" (20:2). Court scene in keeping with Coypel's liking. The stylized dancing shepherdesses and the bagpipes player are quite remarkable. Drawing and engraving of great quality. |
