Commentary | Sancho takes care of don Quixote, defeated by one of the penitents, while the priest talk to another priest. "El Cura fué conocido de otro Cura, que en la procesión venía, cuyo conocimiento puso en sosiego el concebido temor de los escuadrones" (52:1).
Drawing and engraving are good; don Quixote and Sancho's figures are very remarkable. |
Notes | 1 - Photomechanical copy of the illustration appeared in Paris: Compagnie des Libraires, 1713.
2 – Copy after Clouzier's engraving (Paris: Compagnie des Libraires, 1700) after Bouttats' illustration for Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73; the scene in the background (don Quixote fighting with the goatherd Eugenio) has not been copied. |
