Commentary | Dorotea (Micomicona) prevents don Quixote from punishing Sancho for having preferred Micomicona's beauty to Dulcinea's. Also the priest, Cardenio and the barber, disguised.

Notes | 1 - Photomechanical copy of the illustration appeared in Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73 (same plate by unknown engraver first used for Brussels: Mommarte, 1662, which was a bad copy after Savery's illustration for Dordrecht: Savery, 1657).
2 - Placed in chapter 45:1 according to its own reference (Fol. 537), but this illustration should appear in chapter 30:1, where "Dispute at the inn" has been placed. |
