Commentary Two different scenes (archaic):
The first one, in the background: don Quixote fights with the muleteers during the vigil of his arms.
The second one, in the foreground: don Quixote is knighted by the innkeeper while doña Molinera fits his spurs and doña Tolosa his sword.
The boy holding a candle that appears in Cervantes' text is missing.
Simple drawing; illustration with not many details and with very basic burin lines. 
Notes 1 - Photomechanical copy of the illustration appeared in Amberes: Verdussen, 1672-73.
2 - "La venta donde el héroe es armado caballero, en pleno día -cuando Cervantes la describió en plena noche-, es una vasta y buena posada flamenca, con amplias dependencias y árboles frondosos. Las mozas del partido son sirvientas solícitas, de carnes blancas y abundantes. El ventero viste como un burgués de Gante, con sombrero emplumado y espada al cinto" (Givanel 108-109).
