Commentary | Two party girls (doña Tolosa and doña Molinera) and a third figure knelt before don Quixote; two other figures (the innkeeper?) leaned against a well observe the scene.
Don Quixote receives a shield from one of the party girls; not represented according to the text and pictorial tradition (doña Tolosa with the sword and doña Molinera with the spurs). Notice don Quixote extremely elongated figure, almost skeletal. Figures resolved with quick drawing lines. |
