Commentary | Don Quixote attacks the wineskins (accurate to Cervantes' text: asleep, dressing his shirt, a night-cap, a blanket wrapped around his left arm and wielding his sword).
The innkeeper, prepared to hit him, tries to stop him; the barber, the priest, Sancho and Dorotea observe the scene. Scene resolved with naturalism. Sancho's figure (almost as a grotesque buffoon) is remarkable. |
Notes | 1 - This episode was also represented by Vanderbank in London: Tonson, 1738, but in a different way. |
