| Commentary | In the foreground, Sancho beaten by the grooms of the Benedictine Monks.
Meanwhile, in the background (right), don Quixote is talking with a pair of Basque ladies traveling in a carriage; on the left, the Benedictine monks? running away. The representation of Sancho is quite little conventional; also the costumes of the grooms and the monks. Remarkable use of etching to contrast figures in foreground and background. |
| Notes | 1 - Process reproduction of Pinelli's etching for Roma: R. Gentilucci, 1833-34.
2 - Wrongly-placed in chapter 28:1. |
