Commentary | Don Quixote, dressed as a 18th century English gentleman, reads peacefully while he observes his family arms (over the fireplace); these, far from looking like "tomadas de orín y llenas de moho, luengos siglos había, que estaban puestas y olvidadas en un rincón" (1:1), appear new and neat.
Poor engraving. |
Notes | 1 - Turned copy after John Vanderbank's illustration (London: Tonson, 1738).
2 - Placed as frontispiece. |
